A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Who Is Josh Centers?

Who am I? I am learning. Always learning.

In my 29 years on this planet, I've been a sheet metal fabricator, a newspaper reporter, an automotive reviewer, and an accountant.

I've soldered circuit boards, cooked gourmet meals, founded an activist organization, built computers, designed logos, edited publications, compiled Linux servers, and met the girl of my dreams. And I'll still stomp your ass at the original Quake.

I stumbled into a Fortune 200 company and laid the groundwork for a multimillion-dollar department.

I'm a staff writer at TidBITS and I had an article published in The Magazine.

One day I'll write novels. I have at least ten in my head already.

Because specialization is for insects.

So What's This All About?

This blog is about finding focus, learning to respect oneself, and growing as a person. It's about tuning out the hopelessnes that's prevailing in our culture, and tuning into what will lead to your self-fulfillment.

It's what I've learned and am still learning. You can expect tips, life stories and lessons, and for me to share with you what I'm learning.

It will be a fun ride.
